a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute
(STRI) in Panama. An ornithologist, he has conducted large-scale biodiversity
surveys in Panama, Peru, and Gabon and an analysis of Panama’s
protected area system as part of an Important Bird Areas Program for
Panama. Dr. Angehr is also an authority on tropical ecology, and has
served as a curator or advisor on a number of international exhibitions
on tropical biology and conservation, including STRI’s “Parting
the Green Curtain” and an exhibition on “The United Nations
Environment Program and Biodiversity.”
